- The family enter a historic vehicle run, from John O'Groats to Land's End.
General
Gerard Montgomery drives a series 1 Land Rover in the Cannonball Run from
John O'Groats in Scotland, to Land's End. He is a retired British Army tank commander,
driving a Land Rover Series 1 who treats every roundabout like a
battlefield, and every competitor as a potential Russian
spy. His trusty (stiff upper lip) batman, Basher
Blackadder, is his navigator and co-driver.
The
General finally completes the Run, having waited for an ambulance to
arrive for the Glitter Girls, Poppy Powers and Ruby Lipps. And at the
Podium hosted by Cornwall
County Council, he is awarded a Cannonball Blue
Riband medal, by Arthur King and Silas Stone. His Land Rover in need
of some serious mechanical attention. Something they all joke about,
including Charley Temple, and the BBC.
