TIPS
to FINDING your EVENT ORGANISER
-
Contacting
several marquee hiring companies and ask them to send you their
brochures to get a good idea of the many different marquee designs,
sizes and prices that are available.
-
Ask
questions to ensure that you choose the correct marquee size for the
number of guests you are expecting the marquee to accommodate. Often
if the marquee is too large or spacious, the marquee will appear
half full and if the marquee is on the small side it will be stuffy
and will force people to stand outside!
-
A
reputable marquee hire company will discuss your event requirements
at length and provide a workable marquee that will be perfect for
your wedding or party. Questions to ask and considerations to take
into account include seating arrangements, (round tables need more
room than rectangular, waitress service as opposed to buffet
requires more space)), dance floors, dj equipment, bar and catering
areas.
-
Consider
the practicalities such as how to transport the food and drink to
and from the marquee, and if it is a winter or autumn event you
might well require additional heating. be careful that any heating
convenes to health and safety CE certificates and are suitable for
indoor use.
-
The
better marquee hire companies will supply a range of lighting
(starlit ceilings etc), flooring alternatives, new carpet, wood) and
furniture as well as the actual marquee itself.
-
Ensure
you secure in writing exactly when the marquee will be erected and
taken down and be aware of any relevant council / hotel permissions
and arrangements are in place.
-
Summer
weddings often require marquee walls that can be tied back if the
weather is warm and the garden wants to feature in your entertaining
space.
-
Enquire
of the marquee hire supplier whether they offer different colours
for the interior linings or the exterior, if required.
-
Ensure
the marquee hire company is comprehensively insured and that the
marquee conforms to British Standard specifications.
-
Ask
for references and referrals of customers past and get their
telephone numbers. Any reputable marquee hire company will be more
than happy to supply references.
-
And
remember if you have any doubts walk away, it is your wedding or
party and there are enough worries without having to worry about the
marquee!
